Colegiul Tehnic “Edmond Nicolau” (CTEN) is a public, Ministry-accredited technical and vocational school in Bucharest, founded in 1971 and named “Edmond Nicolau” since 2001.
CTEN educates 1,100+ learners in 47 classes across upper-secondary (technical/vocational/theoretical), vocational technical and post-secondary pathways.
CTEN is accredited for 10+ technical qualifications in Electronics–Automation and Mechanics, and is currently expanding authorisations towards social sciences, economics, tourism services and vocational sports, reflecting a deliberate strategy to keep training aligned with evolving labour-market demand.
Post-secondary tracks include automation equipment, biomedical devices and sound engineering; vocational routes also cover Sports Instructor.
CTEN’s educational offer is complemented by extracurricular programmes that strengthen learners’ digital competence, communication, career guidance and personal development, supporting transition to further education and employment.
The school employs 48+ educators and is officially accredited as a Practice School, mentoring teacher trainees and Master’s students from the National University of Science and Technology “Politehnica” Bucharest and the Bucharest Institute of Construction.
CTEN has recently reinforced its institutional capacity through national recovery investments, including two projects under the Romanian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to equip Smart Labs and VET workshops, increasing readiness for technology-enhanced learning and applied skills training.

Who was Edmond Nicolau ?
Edmond Nicolau (born June 3, 1922, in Brăila; died September 2, 1996, in Bucharest) was a Romanian engineer, radiocommunications specialist, cyberneticist, and essayist.
He was a pioneer of cybernetics in Romania, covering all its branches: technical, economic, and biocybernetics.
He also made original contributions to electromagnetic field theory, antennas, and radio wave propagation, as well as to linguistics and mathematical modeling.
His interests were multidisciplinary, extending to the fields of cosmogony, anthropogenesis, epistemology, hermeneutics, and religion.
